TEACHER COORDINATOR

Lived in the San Francisco Bay area until 1971 then relocated to Orange County in  Southern California.  Employed for 2 ½ years by a musical instrument business with 10 locations in Southern California, he became Splevins Music’s top salesman 12 months in a row.  Armed with experience and insight, in 1974 left Splevins Music to establish his own company in Mission Viejo:  The Music House.

Four years into the venture he consigned band and orchestra instruments to The Sheet Music Shop in Santa Ana, California.  The business plan was to rent the instruments through the location and each month The Sheet Music Shop would receive a commission based on the amount of revenue generated from the rental of those instruments. The Sheet Music Shop became the first of a long line of independently-owned business establishments to be known as Music House Affiliates.

Ever forward-thinking, he knew that computers would become the cornerstone of modern business and in 1980 he began learning computer languages and how to write programs. His 23 years of proficiency in programming and computer integration has enabled The Music House to stay ahead of its competition and allowed the company to quickly implement new business processes and innovative solutions.

Identifying a need for collection of delinquent instrument rental account balances and instrument recovery, in 1990 Dan created anew division of the corporation, Morris Recovery. Recognized as an independent collection agency, Morris Recovery has created its own niche: its clients are music businesses that rent musical instruments.

As the progeny of a father whose life endeavor was international trade and transportation, Dan became versed in the method and operation of that particular industry.  Over a three-year period he schooled himself in the management techniques of manufacturing by purchasing in December of 1997 Gonbops of California and Bobadilla Cases.  Worldwide Gonbops produced and sold traditional Latin percussion instruments (congas and bongos).  Bobadilla Cases was a manufacture of ATA and flight cases manufacturing customized protective structures for medical analysis machines for international medical companies such as Allergan, musical instrument transport cases for the music industry, and plasma screen enclosures for the entertainment industry.

In 1999 Dan marshaled his considerable organizational skills and physically relocated all his companies under one roof: both manufacturing concerns, The Music House and Morris Recovery relocated to Santa Ana, California.  Dan orchestrated and supervised the gargantuan relocation.

Also during this time Dan traveled to Mexico in search of craftsmen in the art of guitar making techniques.   By partnering with a Mexican manufacturer of acoustic guitars he put into production, imported and wholesaled a line of instruments conducive to the American market.
